Setting a record straight
In this political season for Wikimedia some very odd conversations
are taking place in back channels. One of these threads has come back
to me from a couple of different directions. I intensely dislike
whisper campaigns <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whisper_campaign>, so
I'd like to set the record straight in public once again.

I stopped my volunteering on the en.wp project in fall 2004 due to a
strong disagreement with an ArbCom decision. It was not in any way
related to Mr Danny Wool, about whom I was only peripherally aware at
the time. I work with Mr Wool on a daily basis, and we get along
extremely well professionally.

If you have any other information you'd like to have verified, Mr
Möller, you can reach me at this e-mail address, by phone (+1
778.386.1059), or I am often available on IRC. But please verify
things before sharing them; I don't have time for politics.

To those wondering what this about-

A couple of days ago I had a phone conversation with Danny Wool, in
which he pointed out that he's been working very well with Wayne (the
context is not important). I was somewhat surprised by that, because I
had a recollection that Wayne had largely stopped participating in
en.wikipedia.org in part because of disagreements with Danny. I
pointed this out to Danny, who strongly disagreed and said that there
was no such incident. I responded that I may have misremembered. This
is the entire extent of the relevant parts of the conversation.

I don't have access to my logs right now to verify my recollection of
what Wayne had said (it was a long time ago), but it seems most likely
that I did indeed misremember, in which case I apologize for any
misunderstanding. Wayne, I assure you that I have not stated this
impression to anyone besides Danny in a single private conversation.

I must confess to an extreme level of curiosity; what, pray tell, was
the context that you would be talking with Danny about our work
relationship? After all, the board does not directly oversee Danny,
and I'm merely a volunteer. So I would love to know the context of
this conversation?

No, seriously, I would love to know the answer to this. Why were you
calling Danny about our professional relationship?

Please keep this stuff private - you want to take a private conversation
public - nobody is really interersted in private issues here - this is
the public foundation list.

Or are you trying to play games?

Thank you!

Sabine

May I diagree here. I've never met either of the gentlemen concerned but,
given that the initial statements were made on this list then it is only
right and proper that any determination of the facts and conclusions is
also disclosed here in order that nobody is able to make an accusation
without having to back it up.
