Windows 7 /vista support.
I guess RealVNC team completely dropped the ball on free edition of the
software. No Vista or Win7 support with oses out for several years. It is a
shame since RealVNC free is the most reliable software of them all.

Which non-Real options are available for Xvnc server and multi-OS viewer?
I've been using free Real Xvnc server on a Linux box and the free viewer
on XP and Linux. I guess I have to start thinking about viewers for Vista
and 7, but I was thinking the viewer that works on XP would work on Vista
and 7. No?

I also think this is a big downfall for Real. I need native support for the
free version in Win 7.

RealVNC on Linux/Unix is still a viable option, with the viewer running
on Windows, including Vista and Win7.
Running the RealVNC service on Windows is no longer viable, and you will
need to move on to a different distribution like the rest of us, such as
UltraVNC. The free version of Real hasn't supported a modern Windows
platform for years, even with XP it never supported Fast User Switching
or RDP access.
