Thanks for the respnse Koen.

i am using perl Mail::SPF::Query module. it is asking for so many
dependancies. Also i am not able to install it properly.

Please let me know if there are any RPMs to install these patches or is
there any other patch that can be easily installed.

Ahh, I see. You need to visit ftp://www.city-fan.org/pub/contrib/mail and
ftp://www.city-fan.org/pub/contrib/perl-modules/RPMS.rhl9/ where these are
already built up for you.

Hi,

Yes, perl can be a pain in the *rs* sometimes. The best way to solve

Just having the perl module, btw, is not enough to check SPF with

pointers to various different ways of implementing spf in sendmail.

If there's any more you'd like to know, just ask!

Re: Help me to install SPF patch for sendmail [ In reply to ]
Hi All,

We had serious stability problems when we used the perl modules. We
are now using the librariries and spfmilter from http://www.libspf2.org on
Solaris (Sparc/Intel) servers with Sendmail 8.13.0 and everything is
humming along.

Regards
SK

I recommend strongly against this approach in the package-bundled software
world. This kind of updating can shatter package compabilities of things
that are already installed, and will fail to report that you have already
installed the packages if you attempt to install another bundled package
with the dependency. Then you install a new bundled copy of the already
present software, and things become likely to break.

For a world like gentoo where you're doing your own package building, great,
but for the RPM or apt package worlds, use the packages or build your own
packages from the tarballs to maintain consistency and managability.

Ok, sorry for the bad advice. I always download & compile the source
from the project website anyway, mainly because package systems tend to
break if you go beyond the inflexible paths layed out for you. Sooner or
later, those dependencies _will_ get mixed up, and the only option is
the microsoft-solution: format & reinstall your os.

I think especially with SPF, where the current development is going fast
and the package maintainers don't pick up on changes as they happen, i
think my aproach has it's merits.
