Please make sure you have downloaded the latest version. I found some bugs in version 0.2 and the current version will parse everything correctly. At least the test in the test suit from the reference implementation. The ony thing I know of right now is that the Received-SPF-header isn't always placed at the top of the header list. This will become an issue when more intermediate hosts start checking SPF and adding headers.

No, I haven't used it. Is it a content analyzing filter?

Yes, right now I have some Inbox rules that look at the headers and puts the mail in the correct folder. It works for me, but I know of several of my collegues that will never be able to write that kind of rules (we are a computer consultancy firm...). Maybe a plugin will be easier to use.

It's certainly possible to do but it requires a mechanism that adds some
of the envelope fields to the email. Exchange does not preserve
sender-IP and envelope-from information. It is very easy to add these
with a small script. There is one on www.vamsoft.com that I use.

I have always thought about this as a server side thing, but a client
side filter would also be useful for people without direct control over
their email-servers. But as I said, it may still require some
reconfiguration of the receiving server. Outlook POP-ing from other
types of servers may still work without modification of the server.

PS.
Copying this to the spf-develop-list. There might be others with
thoughts on this.

The sender-IP and HELO string almost certainly are preserved in one of
the Recevied: headers. (It will be the top Received: header when it
leaves Exchange, but other hops will add more headers.)

The envelope-from is probably perserved in the Return-path: header.
This was discussed a while ago on the SPF-discuss list, and if I
recall correctly, most versions of Exchange add this header.

Of course, you are right! I will now let my brain catch up with my fingers...
