SpamAssassin does not currently run on Perl 5.8, only on Perl 5.6
I was hoping a 5.8 version was in the works.

I don't know if i've got the wrong end of the stick here, but I'm running SA
on a Suse 9.0 install running Perl 5.8.1-81 and it (seems to) works fine?

I use Perl 5.8 with Spamassassin 2.6 on Solaris 8 works fine for me.

No problems with perl and spamassassin on my box... running on debian sid.

Seems to work just fine under SuSE 8.2 which ships with Perl 5.8.0. What
specifically doesn't work under 5.8?

I read somewhere that you just have to make some changes to the MakeFile to get it to work. Also, I there's something about the DNS module, but I forget.

The changes to Net::DNS are already in the latest release version, all is
working fine on the Win32 front. Also, the Makefile issues are resolved in
the next release version, if you need SA now, there is a bugzilla ticket
that explains how to fix the problem. Can't find it now with all the
Bugzilla traffic over the weekend, but it's in there somewhere ;)

We have 5.8+ on most of our machines, runs just fine. If you are talking
about Windows only you should say so ;-)
