Re: rt-mailgate https - problem
localhost and 127.0.0.1 result in an certificate mismatch using HTTPS
(assuming you don't have a certificate for 127.0.0.1 or localhost as CN).

What do you get with:
wget https://<FQDN>/rt/

What's in the web server error log?
