That's strange. When you say the log file is filling up, do you mean that
the partition in which the log file resides is full? And when you say that
ripd stops functioning, what is actually going on -- can you strace the
ripd process and let us know what it is doing? I would naively expect
the attempts to write log messages to result in I/O errors (which are
probably ignored by the logging subsystem), and then I would expect the
daemon to proceed on its merry way, ignorant of the fact that the log
messages were lost.
Also, version 0.98.3 is fairly old at this point. Is there a reason
not to use a newer version?
