I have qmail-1.00 installed on my computer at home. I
configured it so that outgoing mail pretends to come from
one of the bigger computers I take care of on campus
(math.ucr.edu).
Lately, my computer has been unable to deliver mail to
several different computers. These computers give the same
error message:

Mar 12 11:08:51 trogon qmail: 858164931.075738 starting delivery 6: msg 28106 to remote insom@math.ucr.edu
Mar 12 11:08:53 trogon qmail: 858164933.094704 delivery 6: deferral: Connected_to_138.23.203.100_but_my_name_was_rejected./Remote_host_said:_501_HELO_requires_domain_address/
Mar 12 11:16:14 trogon qmail: 858165374.021928 starting delivery 7: msg 28106 to remote insom@math.ucr.edu
Mar 12 11:16:16 trogon qmail: 858165376.234665 delivery 7: deferral: Connected_to_138.23.203.100_but_my_name_was_rejected./Remote_host_said:_501_HELO_requires_domain_address/

I am not sure what to make of the error, or what could
be causing it. The majority of the machines I have trouble
sending email to are 8.8.5 sendmail installations. Has
anyone seen this problem before, and if so were you able
to fix it?
tia,
chris

Did you set control/helohost? If so, then what to? If not, what did
you set control/me to?
