I will volunteer.

But I don't know how, and would be doing it for the first time.

I think recording a YouTube/Zoom video while releasing would be a good
instruction/training to the next release-er.

Doing joint-releases also is an option.

https://metacpan.org/dist/perl/view/Porting/release_managers_guide.pod is a
good source, but I guess we need more understanding based on this document.

I think we have many volunteers but the knowledge to do so is not
reachable/accessible to them.

I have to confess - I haven't done a release before either and I've no
idea the steps involved, but I know there'll be quite a few folks
around on the list who have done in the past, so hopefully we can
leverage their help in training up someone new to the task.

Possibly so. I know some people at least hate the idea of learning by a
video when they could read some text instead; but then I imagine some
other folks have the complete opposite reaction. If you think that
would help some people then I can't think of a reason not to try it.

As is often the way with so many things around volunteer-lead
organisations...

A quick read of the list suggests we're now looking at:

5.39.2 - August - nobody as yet
5.39.3 - September - Matthew Horsfall
5.39.4 - October - Graham Knop
5.39.5 - November - Karen Etheridge
5.39.6 - December - nobody as yet

5.39.7/8 - Jan or Feb - Renée Backer

I haven't actually done one before - perhaps I should get involved in
this list too?

Elvin Aslanov also volunteers but, like me, hasn't done one before.

Elvin: Do you think between us we might be able to manage an August
release? It's kinda due any day around now though.
