Historical IP and/or protocol reports
Hello,

just to be difficult, my second question is almost the opposite of my first.

Is it possible to get an historical report for a specific IP address or a
specific protocol over a given period of time?

I'd like to see
a) how much a particular machine has downloaded over a period of time, as
well as
b) how much traffic a particular protocol (eg youtube) has generated over a
period of time.

Thanks,
Chris.
Re: Historical IP and/or protocol reports [ In reply to ]
Hi, that is definitely possible.

You can have this kind of reports in the Professional version. You can
generate historical reports (e.g., top applications / ip / AS / etc) as
well as obtain detailed per-host reports. The latter requires MySQL flow
export to be enabled.

See
http://www.ntop.org/ntopng/exploring-historical-data-using-ntopng-part-2/

Regards,
Simone

Hi Simone,

thanks for the response. I shall have a look into this further.

Thanks,
Chris.

Re: Historical IP and/or protocol reports [ In reply to ]
This is a great feature. However, in your how-to it says:

IPv4 and IPv6 Flows Tab

/On the right of the Chart tab there are four additional tabs. The first
two visualize monitored flows in the selected time-span. If no IPv4
(IPv6) flows are present in the observation period, then the
corresponding tab will be automatically hidden. /

I only see an IPv4 tab when I select 1 Day or more. The IPV4 Flows tab
is not present for 12 Hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, 1 hours or less etc....
What am I doing wrong?
There are flows... I've been logging to MySQL for weeks already, and the
network is super busy. So why do I not see flows within the past 3 hours?

Thanks,
Warren

Also, if I click on talkers or protocol (this URL
/if_stats.lua?id=22&page=historical&rrd_file=bytes.rrd&graph_zoom=1d

the page reports "No Results Found"

This makes no sense, there is data, the graph shows many peaks...

Hi,

if you use the Historical Data Explorer (/lua/pro/db_explorer.lua), do
you have the same issue?

Please open a bug on github explaining the problem if you experience
some error.

Emanuele

Hi,

That page is not loading correctly. ntopng log should report some error
message, can you check this?

Re: Historical IP and/or protocol reports [ In reply to ]
Hi,

there is no log entry in /var/log/ntopng/ntopng.log

I have 2 issues:

ISSUE A:

/lua/if_stats.lua?id=36&page=historical

The chart works.
Talkers = No Results Found
Protocols = No Results Found

No time range will display the 'IPv4 Flows' tab unless its 1 week or more.
Clicking on "IPv4 Flows" nothing happens.

ISSUE B:
/lua/pro/db_explorer.lua?ifId=36

Summary: No result found. Please modify your search criteria
Talkers = No Results Found
Protocols = No Results Found

Hi Simone,

I am using ntopng Pro [Small Business Edition] v.2.4.170215

and I get it from http://www.nmon.net/apt-stable/14.04

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Thanks,
