PIO read error on M5
Hi Folks,

On one of the M5 (has 4.4R3.4) following errors are continuously logged at
the same time interval.....

Dec 8 09:47:36 lon1-9 tnp_scb CMFPC: PIC 0/0 PIO Read error, address 0x0028
Dec 8 09:48:06 lon1-9 tnp_scb last message repeated 31 times
Dec 8 09:50:03 lon1-9 tnp_scb last message repeated 116 times
Dec 8 09:50:03 lon1-9 rpd[339]: bgp_recv: peer 195.149.20.234 (External AS
9191): received unexpected EOF
Dec 8 09:50:04 lon1-9 tnp_scb CMFPC: PIC 0/0 PIO Read error, address 0x0028
Dec 8 09:50:35 lon1-9 tnp_scb last message repeated 31 times
Dec 8 09:52:31 lon1-9 tnp_scb last message repeated 116 times
Dec 8 09:52:31 lon1-9 rpd[339]: bgp_recv: peer 195.149.20.234 (External AS
9191): received unexpected EOF
Dec 8 09:52:32 lon1-9 tnp_scb CMFPC: PIC 0/0 PIO Read error, address 0x0028
Dec 8 09:53:03 lon1-9 tnp_scb last message repeated 31 times

Any clue as to what it pertains to and solution to it will be highly
appreciated.

Regards

PIO read error on M5 [ In reply to ]
Hitesh,

Barely an hour before you posted the mail below to juniper-nsp, a
Juniper employee answered a very similar question from another list
member.

His answer was to open a support case and maybe try to relocate the PIC
to another slot, to see whether the problem of failed polled I/O
communications is PIC or slot dependent.

And please be so kind to turn off HTML in your mail program.

PIO read error on M5 [ In reply to ]
Hi,

we had a similar issue on a M10 a few months before - also on slot 0/0...

After opening a support case with Juniper, we had the following items
swapped:

The PIC in Slot 0/0
FEB
and finally the whole chassis

Inserting the PIC in another slot temporary resolved this issue but it
finally came
out that the midplane (chassis) produced the error.

Anyway, I'd recommend to discuss your issue with JTAC.

HTH,

Gregor
