ARP Timeouts
On all of my brocade switches - my ARP timeouts seem to be about 10 seconds?

The documentation states that he default is 240 minutes (4 hours - same as cisco)

I imagine the age is in seconds below?

Dynamic 2 1/2/3 Valid
Dynamic 7 1/1/23 Valid
Dynamic 10 1/2/3 Valid
Dynamic 3 1/2/3 Valid

Re: ARP Timeouts [ In reply to ]
Hey Nick, that is the time since that arp was last seen, once the age hits
240 it would disappear. If it's active, it will refresh the age. I am
pretty sure it's in minutes, not seconds.

Re: ARP Timeouts [ In reply to ]
Thank you for the reply – I forgot to add that the entry also disappears.

It’s gone from the arp table after ten seconds – until I bring it back with a ping.
e.g

show arp 10.1.1.2 9
seen
show arp 10.1.1.2 9
seen
show arp 10.1.1.2 9
seen
show arp 10.1.1.2 9
seen
show arp 10.1.1.2 9
seen
4 more seconds…
GONE

Even if it’s not sending traffic – I would hope it stayed longer than that.

There is not arp commands in the config – this is on the turbo irons and the FCX’s – am I missing something??

Thanks
Nick
