E1MG-100FX-IR-OM link not coming up on NI-XMR-1Gx20-SFP
I have some new brocade compatible optics (SFP) that we are trying to use
for a customer that are not working.

E1MG-100FX-IR-OM is a 100FX (yes, 100 mbit) optic that is supposed to work
in the NI-XMR-1Gx20-SFP 20-port 1GbE/100FX Module.

The manufacturer tells me that Brocade requires 3.9.0 code for these to
work. Since the router is running 5.2.0d, maybe they are talking about
FPGA code on the 1Gx20 card??

show media shows correct:

Yep, no success:

SSH@router#speed-duplex 100-full
Error - can't change speed and duplex mode

Hi Bill,
I've posted the most recent copy of the supported optics info to my Dropbox account. You can use it to make sure the optic type, cable diameter, and code version all match.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3783334/External%20Brocade%20Qual%20and%20Support%20Transceiver%20Matrix%20%28061713%20All%20customers%20except%20HP%29%20v1.0.xls
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3783334/Optics%20Family%20Data%20Sheet.pdf

It looks like we've supported this since v2.9 though, so I think your version is OK. You can confirm that the FPGA and IronWare images match on that card by running a "show mod" and "show ver". Compare the output of the LP with what is running on the MP; if something is mismatched you may also see an error message for the individual IronWare or FPGA (XPP) version inside the output.

If this is a 3rd party optic (non-brocade) you may need to disable the optics type checking with:

Brocade(config)# no transceiver-type-check

Hope this can get you working!

Wilbur
