NDMP to tape, cDOT 8.3, command line?
Guys,
I need to write one damn volume to tape on a cDOT 8.3.2p9 four node
cluster. LTO5 drives hooked up with FC. I can setup NDMP in VServer
mode and get that part working. But I can't find the tool to start a
dump to tape of the volume.

ndmpcopy just does filer to filer copies. You can't use 'dump' any
more from the console, it's all NDMP based now.

I guess I'll have to just configure Netbackup 7.7.3 with NDMP to make
this happen, but then I'll need to figure out how to backup a specific
snapshot.

Such a pain...

John

how about this:
system smtape backup -volume <your volume> -backup-snapshot <snap name>
-tape /node-01/nrst0a

will that help?

Duh... thanks for the hint, that looks to be doing the trick. I just
went through a whole bunch of hassle trying to get NDMP setup so I
could use that. SMTape gets around that.

Unfortunately, it's not as nice a way to archive off data, but hey,
it's what the customer wanted.

Now to do a test restore to make sure I know how to get it back into
the Windows box it came from.

Thanks,
John
