Mythbackend using 100% of a core
I'm running v33.1+fixes.202307022004.83e1df82c2~ubuntu20.04.1. This
problem has been happening for a little while now and I've recently
updated packages to see if that would help, but to no avail.

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 in a container under proxmox. If I reboot the
container, mythbackend starts again normally with normal CPU usage.
The problem seems to return after many hours. Once the high CPU starts
it seems to stay until I restart mythbackend.

I've tried looking through the mythbackend log but there doesn't seem
to be any obvious cause of the problem while it's happening.

What can I do to get more information on this?

Regards,

Karl

Re: Mythbackend using 100% of a core [ In reply to ]
Every now and then there are similar threads about high CPU usage when
mythbackend is in idle mode.

In most cases, there has been multiple paths enabled to collect the EPG
data,
either multiple tuners has been configured for collecting EIT (active EIT
scan)
or XMLTV and active EIT scan have been configured to collect data for the
same source.

Another possibility is that the system runs out of disk space or swap space.

IIRC there was one security incident not caused by MythTV but maybe
triggered by mythbackend that caused
high CPU load on a single kworker thread.

I have in the past had a lot of mythcommflag processes hogging CPU that
never ended until I killed them manually.

The issue has occurred again. I was logging the result of the 'uptime'
command every 30 seconds so it's fairly clear when the problem
started.
https://logpaste.com/8pmt9UqV
Something happens around or shortly after 11:27 and the load climbs up.

I have extracted the relevant few minutes either side of the times
when the issue started, but I do not see anything obvious in the log?
Compared to long before and after, the messages look to be the same,
with the same frequency, etc.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Right now, top shows mythbackend at 100% so the issue is ongoing. Can
I find anything out while the problem is happening? Again, current
mythbackend logs look normal to me.

Does mythcommflag run as a separate process? I am seeing mythbackend
using the cpu
