Thanks for the suggestions.

I had 10 different video profiles to try and these are the results when
I tried to do all of them

*1_ OpenGL High Quality*

a) mythbackend - no video, only audio

b) /usr/bin/mythavtest- no video, only audio

Seems to get these timeout error messages -

Yes, I think you've got old playback profiles from your previous mythtv
installation. Briefly, I think you need to delete all of your playback
profiles, exit setup, go back into setup and the new profiles should be
recreated. To delete a profile, go to Setup -> Video -> Playback ->
Current Video Playback Profile, then right arrow brings you to a page
where you can mark the profile for deletion. Rinse and repeat.

When you have deleted them all, allowed your changes to be saved, then
re-entered Setup -> Video -> Playback, the available playback profiles
should be:

NVDEC Normal
OpenGL High Quality
OpenGL Normal
OpenGL Slim
V4L2 Codecs
VAAPI Normal
VDPAU Normal

At least this the list I see on v32. There might be some slight changes
on v33, v34/master, but I think the procedure will give you playback
profiles supported by the version of myth you have installed.

Also, if you have more than one frontend, you probably need to repeat
the same procedure, because I'm pretty sure they are stored per
frontend, not per system.

Forgot to add a couple of points:

* Once you've got the correct playback profiles, it's a lot easier to
test which ones work using the Setup Wizard. However, If you're in North
America, you may still need to go back and forth between playing 1080i
recordings and Setup to get it just right.

* I have created an OpenGL Slimmer profile for use with my "ATI Radeon
HD 4200" IGP., because the other OpenGL profiles weren't "slim enough"
for this IGP with 1080i content. The custom profile that works with for
me has:

Width Range: (blank)
Height Range: (blank)
Video formats: All formats
Frame Rate Range: (blank)
Decoder: standard
Max CPUs: 3 (this computer has a quad core Athlon II)
Deblocking filter: checked
Video Renderer: OpenGL
Video scaler: Default (bilinear)
Deinterlacer quality (single rate): Low quality
Prefer OpenGL interlacers: unchecked
Prefer driver interlacers: unchecked
Deinterlacer quality (double rate): None (this disables the following
prefer deinterlacer options)
