There may be some later program that is scheduled to use
the available tuners.

The first step might be to run a "mythbackend --printsched"
(under the appropriate environment) to provide hints about
the schedulers reasoning.

Sometimes I have found the words "later" and "earlier" slightly misleading. It might mean that the
program is being recorded /at the same time/ but on, for example, an HD channel instead of SD, or
vice versa, or a different channel that is showing the same program.

As noted, a "mythtv --printsched" should make all clear.

8PM-11:01PM. It has a priority of -4 and hockey priority is -1.

Just a thought - check all tuners have the same priority.

I find that recordings can be delayed if all tuners do not have
identical priority in which case the recorder will wait until the tuner
marked as high priority is available.

All tuners have priority 0. I normally can record 3 programs at once and if
I change Street Outlaws to have a higher priority it will record it.

I think that probably the episode is available on another channel at a
later time. If the other channel has a higher priority it will delay and
record it on the higher priority channel.

I think there is a scheduler bug. Notice that at 11:30 it records The
Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in
parallel. No problems there.
