i think the spammers have gotten there way into this list...

i got a couple spams i never got to this account before.. and also saw
this bounce in my mail servers logs...

Aug 7 23:59:31 GeekServ2k3 postfix/smtpd[8437]: disconnect from
colo.snowman.net[66.111.39.130]
Aug 8 00:01:45 GeekServ2k3 postfix/qmgr[28817]: 1FD758D9E3F: from=<>,
size=3947, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Aug 8 00:04:54 GeekServ2k3 postfix/smtp[8502]: connect to
b1.sharedoffers.com[199.245.138.228]: Connection timed out (port 25)
Aug 8 00:04:54 GeekServ2k3 postfix/smtp[8502]: 1FD758D9E3F:
to=<bounce-53E1C9342D@sharedoffers.com>, relay=none, delay=374823,
status=deferred (connect to b1.sharedoffers.com[199.245.138.228]:
Connection timed out)

maybe i'm jumping the gun here... ?

I got one of the "help us get money out of our country" spams to my mythtv
email acount as well; barely noticed it with all the traffic on here :-)

I googled for my address, and noticed that while snowman and gossamer try
to hide email addresses of posters, sometimes email clients replying to a
post do not.

I saw one of my responses complete with the From: header quoted in another
message. Let's be careful of that.

Someone subscribed the mythtv-users list in unencrypted mode to the gmane.org
archives a while back. Just noticed it a week ago. =( Any additional spam
you're getting is probably from someone grabbing addresses from their
mail->news gateway. I've disabled the account, but haven't emailed asking
for the lists to be completely removed from their archives, yet.
