Scan Converters vs Video Card TV out, whats better?
Does anyone have any experience with scan converters? In general the Averkey series, i'm looking to get one as I'm trying to improve on the video out quality over my current G4 mx440 card. My big question is basicaly if these scan converters give a good picture, plain and simple? If anyone has compared them with tv out they have, then please let me know how they compare. I've looked at the averkey 300 Gold, and that looks promising and a decent price most of the time on ebay :-P One last question, how do you post replies to message on the mailing list? (mail using the same subject or something?

I posted a similar question yesterday. I am using an
older (discontinued) model of the AITech Webcable (not
plus). I'm not happy with it.

I have the space for a video card (AGP or PCI) and I
don't think I can avoid paying nearly to $100 to fix
the video quality.

I also have what I think is a GeForce 4 MX DDR (made
by asus) in my other computer. I have never used the
TV out on it. for what I do on that computer I could
cheaply replace that video card and use it in my
Mythtv machine. Anyone had any luck a similar cards?

RE: Scan Converters vs Video Card TV out, whats better? [ In reply to ]
I have a LeadTek-branded GeForce4 MX 420 (or 440?) in my frontend; no big
complaints. It would be nice if I could dynamically adjust the overscan
with nvtv; the latest Nvidia binary drivers support tweaking it in the
XF86Config (I have yet to try them), but that seems a bit tedious -- every
time I want to play with overscan/underscan I have to restart X??!!

Other than that, I've been using it for about 6 months, and the TV-out is
just fine.
