It's now time... (...to get your translations ready...)
Hi!

You should now get your translations ready for the release of 0.26.

We are now in soft string freeze (once again sorry for the delay) and
the theme string extraction program has now been run to extract the
strings that come from the themes.

We will be accepting updates for your respective translation during the
RC phase but if you wish to make sure your translation are included in
the 0.26 release you should submit them as soon as possible.

Please don't forget to run lupdate before translating as instructed on
the translation page (http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Translation) to get the
latest strings.

The work is far from complete but we have been adding translation
comment/disambiguation strings (in Qt Linguist these look the same),
merging strings which were cut in many parts and merged back together
and changing the translation context of some strings (instead of seeing
the strings for which this has been done under the QObject context they
will now appear under a better, more explicit, context).

The side effect of changing the translation context is that they are
marked as incomplete under the new translation context and must be
re-marked as complete. An easy way to do that is to sort by the
translation status (click on the header of the column that contains the
translation status) and go on the first string that must be re-marked as
complete (yellowed question mark) and type Ctrl-Enter which will mark
the translation as complete. Do this until you reach the end of the
entries which must be re-marked as complete.

You might also want to consider submitting locale files
(http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Locale_Configurations) for your respective
locales as well. We will make sure these get forwarded to the
appropriate developer.

Thank you very much for all your hard work!

against which branch do you prefer the translation patches to be
taken? .26 alpha or master?

Against master.

"v0.26-alpha" is a tag on master (a fixed point in time) and if you
translate against it if any strings gets added after it (which is
allowed until we're in hard string freeze if it is done to fix
something) you would not have the latest strings.

Thank you for your work and have a nice day!

The translation stats are freshly updated for master and for current
0.25-fixes, in anticipation of the forthcoming 0.26 release.

Good luck to all translation teams!

Cheers,
Nick

Are there any updates to the original 0.26 release schedule posted
back in July that can be passed on to our translation teams?

Current stats [1] show there are now 5 completed translations (el,
en_gb, et, fi, nb) but it would be great if those nearly complete
(e.g. de and es_es are at 99%) were also ready for the 0.26 release.

I was actually planning to post about this today (we're still in the
morning here)... (-;

It's now dependent on the stability of the release candidate (which is
out) so please submit your last updates as soon as you can.

If the RC is stable enough the release might be as early as next week-end...

Thank you,

Nicolas

Stats freshly updated today:

http://www.insidethex.co.uk/mythtv/translation-status/master/

Good news - we now have 10 completed translations

The following translations are at >80% completion - with a push these
could also be completed before release if there are translators
available:

- da
- it
- ru
- sv

Thanks to all translators for their work so far,
Nick

If there are translators available which are willing to work with the
current translators as they *all* have translators.

Danish translation: I believe Kenni (MythTV translation
maintainer/developer) is working as fast as he can on it.

> - it

Italian translation: Morris was having some problems updating his
translation but I believe they are now resolved. I'll ping him when I
get back home to make sure.

(I offered him my help and to any translator who needs help...)

> - ru

Russian translation: I haven't seen any recent activity on the Alex's
repo and blog so they might need some help. Please contact them if you
wish to help.***

That's Jonatan (natanojl) and Roger translation. Last time Jonatan
committed it himself (he's a MythTV dev) so I guess it's not ready if he
hasn't committed it yet.

After the release of 0.26 (which should be very soon now...) I'll be
sending an email to the -users list to ask for additional translators
(for unmaintained languages and for those of you who asked for help on
the translation wiki page).

Thank you all for your great work and have a nice day!

Nicolas

PS: Nick I got your ping, I'll be replying tonight when I get back home.
