Setting up DVB-S
Hi all,

I just received my SkyStar2 cards today and put them in my Myth box to have a
play with. At this stage I know very little about DVB.

I've installed some DVB utils and tried to follow the guide at pvr.geek.nz.

I've been trying to follow the info on DVB-S setup at pvr.geek.nz without too
much luck so far.

A Sky installer came out and put a new dual LNB on our dish a while back so I
am assuming that the offset should be 10.75.

Trying to tune the card gives me this output ;

root@frog:~# dvbtune -f 1920000 -s 22500 -p v -m
Using DVB card "ST STV0299 DVB-S"
tuning DVB-S to L-Band:0, Pol:V Srate=22500000, 22kHz=off
ERROR setting tone
: Invalid argument
polling....
Getting frontend event
FE_STATUS:
polling....
Getting frontend event
FE_STATUS: FE_HAS_SIGNAL FE_HAS_CARRIER
polling....
polling....

the polling lines continue until a ^C. I got the 1920000 from 12.671 - 10.75 =
1.92.

Can anyone shed some light on what I may be doing wrong?

Cheers,

hads

The only obvious thing I can see is that 12671-10750=1921, not 1920.
Have you tried:
dvbtune -f 1921000 -s 22500 -p v -m

Cheers,
Steve

Quite right! I forgot that the calculator I was using rounded automatically.

Unfortunately that didn't help matters, I'm still getting the same output.

Thanks for your input though.

[snip]

I believe that it was a bad cable, I can now tune the card and retrieve a
channel listing with scan -c.

I always manage to overlook the simple things.

Now I just need to setup mythtv.
