Solved Two PVR-150s, one works one doesn't - UPDATE
I got both my tuners both working!

Turns out there were extra bogus entries in the cardinput table, because
ivtv changed the names of the Tuner from "Tuner 0" to "Tuner 1" between
0.4.4 and 0.6.1
To check....
Look for wrong values, and delete them with

Also nothing loaded the cx25840 module.

PIP doesn't work, but thats cos the frontend is too gutless.

I also require a better RF splitter... or a new aerial

Now my solution will be archived on the web somewhere for others to find :)

You could add something on the Knoppmyth Wiki which is always a good
starting point when debugging.

The local MythTV website at http://www.mythtv.co.nz should hopefully go
live later this week, once I get the ok on the structure and artwork.
Then we can start using that for tips/howtos etc.

True - this mailing list is automatically archived on gossemar threads too.

There are also NZ MythTV wikis at:
http://www.wlug.org.nz/MythTv
http://pvr.geek.nz/w/index.php/Main_Page
http://wiki.linux.net.nz/MythTvNotes

Any thoughts on working with the people behind one of the above wikis
to consolidate some of this info?

Also, do you feel its best to use the MythTV name for a commercial
(.co.nz) usage? To me, it implies you have ownership or
right-to-speak-on-their-behalf, etc.

With one hat on I understand where you are coming from, the simple fact
is people mostly use .co.nz and seldom use .org.nz or .net.nz when
looking for sites. The same way 'some'/'most' Americans don't consider
websites that don't end in .com

At the moment mythtv have mythtv.org. Locally I could have looked at
mythtv.org.nz, but I'm also pushing the use of MythTV by a commercial
company so .co.nz kinda made sense.

Oh and before the flames start, the source is still open and free, plus
my tweaks go back to the Knoppmyth team. The commercial side is a
commercially supported product, rather than letting consumers fend for
themselves.

When you look at the market there are consumers for whom mySky is too
complex and would never consider Windows MCE. If I can get some of the
power users for whom mySky is too simple, and would otherwise consider
Windows MCE then it is a win for the Linux community.

Just to throw my 2 cents in, I don't think there is any problem with
this morally (and certainly not legally). There is nothing in the
license, documentation, or statements I've seen from those central to
the project to the effect that commercial use is in anyway
discouraged. Quite the opposite, infact.

Besides all that, as you say, the significance of .co. v .org. and
.net. is quite irrelevant to the vast majority of net users.

Steve

The only issue might be ownership of the name mythtv. If Issac wanted
that domain name, he might be entitled to it.

I've actually been talking to Issac. If he wants it he can have it.
Wanted to make sure I didn't tread on his toes with any content that I
published there. Also wanted to protect the domain from some of my
proprietary competition. Wouldn't want M$ or Sky owning it would you?

The aim for it is to be reasonably neutral. OpenMedia will sponsor it
and hopefully derive some exposure, but the driver is the technology and
pushing it locally.
