Sky down?
Greetings

Judging from the response from the 0800 number for Sky, something has
fallen in the water...

Any insider info anyone?

We have an outage on SKY’s Optus B1 satellite.

At this time there are no SKY satellite services. We will keep you updated as
we obtain more information.

SKY Sport 1 is Free to Air on UHF for the duration of the Live Cricket Awards.

According to a post on geek.zone they've lost communication with Optus B1
satellite. It was already running on a backup processor apparently.

The main processor died May last year. It was running on a backup
processor since then, and the whole satellite was due to be replaced
by Optus D1 early this year (say around March or whenever it actually
launches). Apparently other satellites of the same model have
suffered the same issues in recent years. Who knows what the issue
is this time, or when they will be able to fix it, but it died around
6.30pm and their phones and website keep saying that service should
resume shortly...

In the mean time what's the best way to disable my recording
schedule? Disassociate the Sky source from my S-VIdeo input?

OUTAGE ON SKY SATELLITE SERVICE

SKY apologises for loss of SKY satellite services resulting from an
outage on the Optus B1 Satellite that provides SKY’s signal.

The satellite signal was lost after a routine positioning procedure to
the satellite by Optus. This effectively meant that the SKY
transmission signal was lost to New Zealand and to Australian
customers. Optus immediately acknowledged the problem and set about its
correction. The satellite is communicating correctly with Optus ground
stations. Optus has commenced a “re-pointing” manoeuvre to correct the
signal.

SKY satellite customers can continue to access SKY Sport 1 on UHF
service. Other satellite programming will be restored as soon as Optus
has realigned the signal. UHF services are unaffected.

Updates will be posted on www.skytv.co.nz

Re: Sky down? [ In reply to ]
backup according to the sky site now:

" SKY’s satellite signal was lost at 6.50p.m. last night (NZ time Thursday 30 March), after a routine positioning procedure to the satellite by Optus. This effectively meant that the SKY transmission signal was lost to its customers (except UHF subscribers). Optus immediately acknowledged the problem and undertook restoration procedures. SKY’s satellite signal was re-established at 8.05a.m. today (NZ time) and the services are in the process of being restored.

SKY will credit customer accounts for the loss of one day’s service. "

Very good auction LOL

SKY SATELLITE SERVICE RESTORED

SKY’s satellite signal was lost at 6.50p.m. last night (NZ time Thursday 30
March), after a routine positioning procedure to the satellite by Optus. This
effectively meant that the SKY transmission signal was lost to its customers
(except UHF subscribers). Optus immediately acknowledged the problem and
undertook restoration procedures. SKY’s satellite signal was re-established
at 8.05a.m. today (NZ time) and the services are in the process of being
restored.

SKY will credit customer accounts for the loss of one day’s service.

We are expecting heavy phone traffic today. If you are still experiencing
technical issues refer to the UHF Tuning Instructions on our website

D1 was originally planned for last year I believe. And B1 is well past
it's planned life end, so these problems are not suprising.
