one PVR-150 card, two inputs in use at once?
Before I get busy rearranging machines and pieces... is it possible for a
linux box to use the tuner on a PVR-150 for mythtv, and at the same time
to use the composite input for another process?

nope. each v4l device can only have one input selected at a time AFAIK.

Of course you could get a PVR-500 which is two 150's on one card. It
presents to the system as two devices: /dev/video0 and /dev/video1

Okay - thanks.

Yeah true... funds are an issue of course. I want to grab frames from an
old video camera to feed to motion.

I don't think a PVR is much good for that anyway, it's ouput is an
mpeg-2 stream. It does not function as a framegrabber.

OTOH, if you have a spare slot, there are many cheapish BT8*8
framegrabbers available which will do what you want.
