unless you get a card that can decode the digital signal then u still
need the digibox
there are cards that decode the signal huappage is one but its very
early development under linux also it can only get the free to air
channels. (some free channels are not free to air)
free to air refers to the way the signal is scrambled free to air ar the
open ones.
So if u are using an analog card (eg bttv huapage and others) you need
the digibox to decode for you
if you have digital card you may still need the digi box to descramble
for you.
so you have the digibix as an input to the TV cap card (it could be just
a frame grabber but i dont know how mythtv would handle the lack of
tuner).
You then need to control the digibox external and again not too sure how
to do this in mythtv
my digibox has ether and rs232 but the ether does not appear to do
anything and i have not yet tried the RS232 so i hope it can be
controlled from that.
The other way is to make a remote control see lirc but again not sure
how mythtv would do the controll as you would have to call an external
program to change channel.
in my area the digital signal is even more complex. The digi box decodes
the digitial signal and spurts it out through scart connecter but there
is also a arial output This carrys the cable signal raw which has some
analog channels on it (bbc 1 bbc 2 itv ch4 and ch5) this is what i use
for mythtv
