Windows Client
Hey guys!!

I've been trying to figure out the best way to get some sort of myth action
going on on my windows box..

Basically, i would be plenty satisfied just playing recorded mythtv shows..

One way that i'm thinking would be to run VMware and ntfs the partition or
something..

or otherwise using a mounted SAMBA partition, also from VMware..

Why can't I just play the videos from my media player?

My guess is that I lack the codec.. How do I get the codec?

I suspect you'll have to convert the nuv file to something more useful
first.I had a read at the nupplevideo website and it said the mplayer
supported the nupplevideo files, but no joy playing them so far. Mind you, I
am using rtjpeg which I haven't previously seens elsewhere. Might work out
better if you are using mpeg4 which I'm certain mplayer supports.

The format used in mythtv isn't exactly nuppelvideo anymore, so any existing
nuppelvideo loaders would have to be modified to support things.

I suspect that the nuppelvideo codec will continue to change with time..
Will those changes mean that the windows codec will have to be redone every
time?

I'm in the process of making a VCD writer plugin for MythTV, once it is
complete, there is no reason why other codecs couldn't be used instead of the
mpeg1 and layer 2 audio. However these options will be external to MythTV.
