How to remove screen cover on N900???

I just received my N900. I put a memory card in and the battery. But how
do you remove the screen cover? There is some sort of covering on the
front and I don't see how to remove it.

I can't tell whether the black material is just a film or some sort of
cover. Can I just try to peel off the black material?

I was able to just ply off the plastic film covering.
