Update 3 HORROR - Maemo wont boot after Power Kernel
Seam to work at first. I guess I am going to try the eMMC.

Don't know what else to do.

Perhaps you could try the Linux command line flasher to flash the kernel
only from e.g. a PR1.2. image?

Re: Update 3 HORROR - Maemo wont boot after Power Kernel [ In reply to ]
Hi, thanks for your response.

I did try that, exactly like this:

sudo flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin -f
-R
.....
Flashing kernel... done.
Sending and flashing rootfs image (173696 kB)...
100% (173696 of 173696 kB, avg. 14012 kB/s)
Finishing flashing... done
CMT flashed successfully

twice.

Then it reboots, shows the flashing orange led. then the sequence of balls
as normal.

Then it keeps the sequence of balls (progress) forever.

I am 11 minutes away from completing the eMMC download.

Should I try that?

I guess. Haven't tried that. The problem could be that the kernel
modules are still for the power kernel version, so flashing the PR1.2
kernel is not enough... If you can boot it in some way, you can fix the
symlink to point to the right kernel modules.

Re: Update 3 HORROR - Maemo wont boot after Power Kernel [ In reply to ]
flashing the firmware image completely overwrites everything
from the kernel-power package. just reflashing the kernel
would have been sufficient if it was a kernel problem:
flasher-3.5 -f --flash-only=kernel -R -F <firmware-image>
but it seems that something else is the cause (broken home?).

Modern Linux system don't need nor use a /lib/modules/current link.
kernel-power fixes the broken /sbin/preinit so that it also uses
"uname -r" to look up the correct modules.
Therefore every kernel that is reflashed will find its own modules.

I can check this if you bring the device to Helsinki, Finland :)
/var/log/syslog could also have something if you have syslogd installed.

Ok, cool. It's about time.. (my desktop Linux is from 2008)
