Hi.

Sorry for the late reply.

If you want this card supported:

1. Could you provide pictures of this Toshiba card (front and back)? or
at least a list of chips on the card and whatever the label on the metal
tuner card says?

2. Could you tell me a little bit about the card: is it PCI or mini-PCI?
Does it do DTV, if so is it ATSC/QAM, DVB-T, DVB-S, or DVB-C? etc. Does
the card support FM radio? What is the model name of the card?

3. I'll need to you to experiment with changes I make to the driver.
This will take time on your part and it would be helpful if you had
CVBS, SVideo, and RF signal sources available.

Thanks.

BTW, the only Toshiba PCI IDs for a CX23418 based card I have seen in a
Windows *inf file are:

1179:0010 for World wide
:0020 for Japan
:0030 for CH (China or Switzerland?)
:0110 for DVB-T/Analog hybrid

1179:0111 is a new one on me.

Regards,
Andy

Sorry for such a really long delay from my end. Because of size of the pictures, I put all of them on imageshack:

Thanks for the pictures. I'll try to see what I can do.

At least now I know the DVB-T demodulator is an STV0361, for which there
does not appear to be any Linux driver yet. The programming information
and reference manual for the STV0361 and STV0360 do not seem to be
publicly available. The likelyhood of DVB-T ever working under Linux
for this card is low.

I still can't see what tuner chip is in use: it's inside the larger
metal can farthest from the miniPCI card edge connector. I assume the
depressions on the can press down onto the two most important chips in
the tuner assembly to act as a heat sink for those chips. To get analog
broadcast video (or DVB-T) working, I'd need to know what tuner chips
are in use in that metal can.

So with the information so far, I only have reasonable hope of
developing support for this card's baseband Compsite video, S-video, and
audio inputs. Is that still worth it to you?

Regards,
Andy

Yes, please, if can do it. I really appreciate your effort. Also, I will try to take off this piece of metal to see the tuner chip.

Thomas

Get a copy of the the latest v4l-dvb repository and apply the patch in
the e-mail below. Here are some short directions:

http://www.ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Cx18#Obtaining_the_driver

(before installing all the modules, you may wish to back up your current
modules that are under /lib/modules/`uname -r` ).

You will also need firmware for the XC3028 tuner - as that's what the
current card entry assumes is the tuner.

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Xceive_XC3028/XC2028#How_to_Obtain_the_Firmware

Let me know if the card entry works for Compostie and S-Video. If it
doesn't, you'll need to check the Windows *.inf file for your card to
get the DDR memory settings and input multiplexer settings correct for
the cx18-cards.c entry correct for your card.

By the way, what Toshiba laptop model did this card come from?

Regards,
Andy
