Hello. Are there any resources that could help me get started using gpg
in my own C programs ? I would like the ability to encrypt and decrypt
text from within my own programs.

Sure: fork/exec.

See tests/shmtest.c for a way to remote control the --edit menu.

On the FTP server you will find a snapshot of PGG which will be a high
level libarary.
