I installed a FreeBSD here to track down some bugs.
It has something to do with the BSD assembler syntax.
Remove the directories mpi/i[35]86 and the program will
work after you have done a ./config.status --recheck.
I'll look deeper into this as soon as I have installed less and bash ;-)
