emerge ends with "Unable to run required binary."
I have just emerged a few packages and it ends up like this:

>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
* Caching service dependencies...
>>> app-text/xpdf-3.00-r3 merged.
Unable to run required binary.

I have just upgraded portage to portage-2.0.51-r1.

What is going on?

The problem has nothing to do with your version of portage. See

I think I've fixed it by updating portage again. (-r2 just came out a few
hours ago I think). There's a reference to the problem on the forums.
