before i start telling you about my problem i should say that i had a
fine running gnome-desktop with xorg-x11-6.7 just two days ago .....
yesterday i emerged xorg-x11-6.8-r1. at first it didn't seem to work
correctly, so i unmerged it and emerged xfree86, which also was an bad
idea, because it didn't work either. so i decided to do something more
radical .... i unmerged xfree, then removed my /etc/X11 and my
/usr/X11R6 directory, and afterwards emerged xorg-x11-6.8 again. and
really, now it works fine, but i fear i've damaged some of my gnome
config files.
when i now start gdm i get:
"No servers were defined in the configuration file ....... So I have
started a single sever for you ...."
"The configuration file was not found .... You should log in an create a
new config file with the GDM configuration programm."
when i log in into my gnome-dektop (which works well) i get:
"Could not find or run the base session script, will try the
gnome-failsave session for you."
can anybody tell my how to restore my config files, so that i get rid of
this messages ?
thanks,
antonio
