Groupware solution
I'm looking for a groupware product. I've looked at a few of the ones
in portage, but none have really been to my liking. Open-Xchange came
closest to what I wanted, except I don't want to use LDAP with it. I
would like to keep all the users/accounts from the groupware system
separate from any system level access. I'll be using it for project
management for school and classes only last for 10 weeks.

A good groupware product that uses only databases is what I'm looking
for. Email access isn't important, and probably irrelevant. My
primary goal is to have something that can manage different people's
schedules and can schedule meetings around their schedules.

Thanks,
JW

dotproject has translation packs, and AFAIR their demo site is
language-configurable.

Have you checked out phpGroupWare? I haven't personally used from an
admin role, but you may find it does what you're looking for.
http://www.phpgroupware.org/

Also you might want to check out eGroupWare, at http://www.egroupware.org/

Not sure if either are in portage, but as web apps they should be
quite simple to deploy.

moregroupware (http://www.moregroupware.org) is not in portage, but it
looks like it has good potential.

I've looked at each of their sites, and their demos. phpgroupware got
close to what I wanted. I may install it to see if it really is like
the demo site.

Both demos were in a language other than english, which made it harder
to test. I'll give them both another chance.

Re: Groupware solution [ In reply to ]
I gave phpgroupware a shot, and it didn't quite perform to my
expectations. The calendar part wasn't all that wonderful.

I just installed more.groupware and thus far I'm pretty happy with it.
I had given it a very quick look and didn't quite understand one of
the screen shots, but now that I've installed it, I think it'll do
what I want.

I've also used dotproject and didn't quite like it's setup.
