KMail IMAP filter question
Hi group,
is it posible to create filters on an IMAP a/c im KMail to move messages from
Inbox to a different folder on the IMAP server?

When I try to create a filter, with action "File to Folder", it only shows
local folders on my desktop .. I couldn't figure out how to set it to move
into a folder on the IMAP server.

Thanks for any help

Mozilla allows it (and has many other features),
so why are u using KMail ?
The only advantage I know about KMail has is
fast sender ID switching.

I was using thunderbird earlier however, at some point it started to
crash quite frequently (no idea why, didn't put much effort to figure
out the reason). may be because my maildir size on the server is over
900mb?

Anaother reason is that I'm using KDE and kde apps look more eye
candy :)

I never used thunderbird, only Mozilla in stable releases.
I had also problem with Mozilla crashes, but the reason was in KDE
~/.kde* config files (after switching to xorg due to font path
changes).
Which imap server are u using ?
I have also some dirs about 500MB, no problem yet. But I have to
say I am doing some "monkey" things with them from time to time
to save some space and have it faster.
I.e. I rename all those loooooong names to short ones like this:
"0001:2,S". Next I remove all unneeded headers and parts from
messages (like gpg signature).
This if u believe or not saves about 50% of space needed on HDD.

That might be the case. any easy way to fix this? Sorry, I still consider myself
a linux newbie.

Courier-imap

are you doing this through some lind of filter within mozilla itself or manually
going to the server? Could you give me some pointers as to how can I remove the
gpg signatures from messages?

Thanks

Stupid simple solution is to (re)move those ~/.kde* files before KDE start.

Lets have a look at attachment - it's quick and dirty (but functional)
script which does it. It suppose "cur" in current directory contains
gentoo-user messages. If u like to use it, modify last lines.
Mozilla should not run while script runs, restart courier-imap daemon
when it finishes (probably not necessary).

Re: KMail IMAP filter question [ In reply to ]
Thanks Norbert,
I'll take a shot at it tomorrow morning. I think I need to do some modifications to it as I'm running the imap server on a redhat 9 server (soory can't change it) and let you know the results.. if thunderbird works with it then it will make a very happy weekend :)

cheers
