xorg-x11-7.1 (X-modular) is stable on sparc and in sync with x86.
All,
In case you have not noticed, X-modular (xorg-x11-7.1 and some
corresponding virtuals: glu, glut, opengl, xft, and x11) are now all
stable on sparc and in sync with each other. Please report problems as
normal bugs and link them as blockers for Bug 111361 (this is a general
tracker for X-modular on sparc, and the cross link just makes
bookkeeping a bit easier).

At this instant, xorg-x11-7.1 should be in sync with the release on
x86 (i.e., as part of a general cleanup and effort to establish a
baseline, we have resolved the known x86/sparc "imlate" discrepancies).

If you are running xorg-x11-6.8.2-r8 and are suddenly confronted with
a huge update to 7.1 but do not wish to convert blind, you should be
able to mask the upgrade in your /etc/portage/package.mask file, thus:
>=x11-base/xorg-x11-7.0
But do not depend on this forever, because the xorg-x11-6.8.2 group will
disappear at some point (and if you happen to be using 6.9.0, long term
that is probably not a good strategy either).

Questions, comments, clarifications, etc. welcome as always.
Regards,
Ferris
