Gentoo on Mips
Well someone needs to make this clear in the docs or
web site. Either way, I can see now why other distro's
want nothing to do with SGI. These configurations are
insane!

Re: Gentoo on Mips [ In reply to ]
Well on some level I do agree that the hardware architecture should not
matter for a class of System like all Ocatnes or Indys etc.... But on
the other hand given the performance level attainable from SGI systems
when compaired to a standard clone system is well worth the
inconvenience of sorting these things out. And for those who are looking
at installing Linux due to cost situations (I was quoated $900.00 CDN)
for a full instalable 6.5.26 or .27 not sure now. Contact this fellow,
he has offered me a 18Gb drive with the media installed for $150.00 USD
and I'm thinking I'll go for that deal. Also take a look at this site it
seems to have some good info as well as a PDF book for creating your own
custom distro. http://www.ca.linuxfromscratch.org it's a site totally
devoted to creating custom distros.

Richard
