I finished adding X.Org 7.3 to the tree tonight. The X server has an ABI
break, so drivers compiled for xorg-server 1.3 or earlier will break. As
per the "2.6.22 stable plans" thread around the beginning of August, the
X team is moving to the same policy as the kernel team. We will no
longer wait for out-of-tree drivers such as the binary Nvidia or ATI/AMD
drivers. We will, however, file a bug in advance of stabilization to the
maintainers of out-of-tree drivers.
