FW: [Pop-imap] Courier-Imap (POP3)
I'm sorry for posting it here, and it will be the only time it appears here,
If I don't get an answer, well that will be it.

I've installed Exim using maildir format. It works beautifully, no problem
on that end. My big problem, and I can't figure it out, I'm unable to
authenticate. I'm using Courier-Imap.

Delivery through Exim is done at /home/<user>/Maildir/ (new, curr and tmp)
are created there.

I've installed Courier-Imap by build the RPMS, installed properly no
problem, but when I go to authenticate, it keeps asking for a password.

I'm authentiicating using PAM. Several modules are defined including authpam
in the authdaemonrc file. pam.d/pop3 looks almost identical to passwd,
except it has the nologn entry.

It should work, but something is wrong. The only thing that comes to mind,
because of the documentation is the location of mail drop maybe wrong, but
Courier-Imap looks for the mail at /home/<user>/Maildir/.

I don't know what else to do. If I sound desperate, it's only my
frustration. This is for personal use, but darn it, I'd like to get it
working. There's other things I'd like to jump to after this.

Subject: [Pop-imap] Courier-Imap (POP3)

I'm close to my wits end. I installed Exim configuring it to use maildir. No
big difficulty there. I went looking around for a Pop and Imap server. I
also intend to use a WebMail, so I decide to go with Courier. All I need is
to setup simple passwd authentication. For the moment I don't have to worry
for Virtual Users. I just need to be able to receive my email.

But lo and behold, I can't get it to work. I'm unable to configure it. I'll
be honest, I tried to read the docs, but I guess it doesn't properly sink
in. I've installed Courier-Imap from both rpms and compilation, but with the
same results.

I've modified the authdaemonrc, and change the authmodulelist to contain
only authpam (I've tried authpwd on it's own), but each time I try to get my
email using pop3, it asks me for password. The password exist, the user is
me.

Man with alot more grey hairs then a couple of weeks ago:
still able to smile :)
Roberto
