Bugzilla error and Exim Mirror
Hi all,

I haven't gotten a response to the below - is there any particular
address I can direct enquiries to?

Further to the below, I also wish to let you know that we're mirroring
your website as well, at ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/www.exim.org/

If someone could get in touch with me about this, we'd be grateful for
the opportunity to let your users know they can download from us.

Regards,
Brian McArdle.

Hi there,
I'm trying to register for your Bugzilla at
http://www.exim.org/bugzilla/createaccount.cgi, but I get the following
error:

Software error:
DBD::mysql::db do failed: Access denied for user 'bugs'@'localhost' to database 'bugs' at Bugzilla/DB/Mysql.pm line 213
Bugzilla::DB::Mysql::bz_lock_tables('Bugzilla::DB::Mysql=HASH(0x893bb5c)', 'profiles WRITE', 'groups READ', 'user_group_map WRITE', 'email_setting WRITE', 'tokens READ') called at /usr/local/www/data/bugzilla/createaccount.cgi line 72

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.4 under Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, in case that makes a difference.

The reason I wish to join is that during a review of our mirrored services here at HEAnet, we noticed that
although we are actively mirroring your content, we do not appear on
your list of mirrors at http://www.exim.org/mirmon/ftp_mirrors.html#ie.

Your mirrored data can be accessed via
FTP: ftp://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/ftp.exim.org/
HTTP: http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/ftp.exim.org/
rsync: rsync://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/ftp.exim.org/

We are located in Dublin, Ireland - technical information can be found
at http://ftp.heanet.ie/about/.

We sync with your data four times a day - you can view the status of the
last sync at http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/heanet/log/exim/.

If you have any questions or queries I am more than happy to help!

Regards,
Brian McArdle.

Sorry about that. The bug tracker should be working again now.

That's nice of you, although personally I doubt that we need more mirrors.
Perhaps FTP mirrors, but hardly website mirrors. I've added a bug report for
you anyway (http://www.exim.org/bugzilla/527).

It does seem to be an ftp mirror and heanet are well known as a fast
download site from their mirroring of sourceforge.

I have updated ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/Mirrors
to include your info. With luck the hostmaster will update the website
at some stage.

Hmm... we have 2 separately maintained lists of mirrors...

I guess the thing to do is to look at using the mirmon list (which
has implicit knowledge of how fresh/valid mirrors are), to generate
the static version using some heuristics (ie don't list mirrors that
have not been contactable for a week or have not updated for a month
- or similar rules).

I'll pick up the specific Heanet mirror probably later today, unless
one of the other folks with access has hit it already.

Nigel.

All the responses so far sound good! We just want to be sure people know
they can use our server to reduce the strain on other mirrors - it's no
problem for us to host another few gigabytes here or there. :)

Re: Bugzilla error and Exim Mirror [ In reply to ]
I notice our mirror updates don't seem to be successful.
"rsync: failed to connect to ftp.exim.org: Connection refused (111)
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(104) [receiver=2.6.9]"

Looking at the other mirrors, it appears it's not unique to us.
Two-thirds of the mirrors haven't updated in the past 28 hours
- is there anything we can do to remedy this?

It's because the A record of ftp.exim.org has been changed to the address of
the new machine, but rsync hasn't been started there yet. It will be fixed
soon.

Its now fixed. Mirmon on the new machine has been beaten up as well.
