the list of allowed characters for usernames, aliases and passwords has
been extended to:
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ0123456789
_.!@#$%^&*()-+=~[]{}<>:;
should be enough imho (anyone who disagrees please tell why) and spaces
are not allowed by design: a space within a username/password is not
allowed by the POP/IMAP protocols.
