The RECENT result as returned by the STATUS command consistently returns
incorrect values for certain mailboxes where SELECT on the same box does return
the correct value.

This means that certain boxes get marked as unread/recent when they are not.

Can anyone confirm this behaviour?

I cannot confirm it. Have tried some deletions etc on boxes.. But
since you can probably reproduce it, there must be something wrong..
