davical 0.9.9 and iCal4 invitations
Hello everybody,

in your company we have many Apple with Mac OS 10.5.7 -> iCal 3.0.8 and
some new Apple with Mac OS 10.6.4 -> iCal4.0.3.
DaviCal 0.9.9 by your mcmillan-repository is running on Ubuntu 10.04.

With iCal4 we can create and delete users and events, but we could not
send direct event invitations (without external eMail).
So we tried iCal3 and this worked fine - iCal3 user can invite iCal3
users to their events.

We have also find out that iCal3 to iCal3 invitation requires the users
are in one / same group.

I have read the mailinglist and last release note.
Andrew wrote 2010-03-01 about the iCal Versions and drafts 3, 7 and 9.
http://davical-general.89287.n3.nabble.com/Davical-Apple-s-iCal-calendar-client-tt421974.html#a422575

The release note 0.9.9 say Rob 'Cave' Ostensen worked on the CalDAV
Scheduling Extensions to WebDAV for Apple iCal v3 & v4, I had hoped
inivitations for iCal4 were working already.

What is your stand - should it work? have anybody else a setup with
working iCal4 inivitations?

Thank you very much.

Hi Benjamin,

It should work OK, but due to some crossed wires between Rob and I you
need to adjust the reported supported DAV feature set in the headers by
setting:

$c->override_dav_header = '1, 2, 3, access-control, calendar-access, calendar-schedule, extended-mkcol, calendar-proxy, bind';

This will be resolved with the next version.

Cheers,
Andrew.

in other words:
Is iCal4 support (with invitations) well implemented and tested - so the
problem is on your side
or
is fully iCal 4 support in process and will come with one of the next
releases? Cave, can we help testing / debuging?

Kind regards

There was a bug that I introduced just before release which meant that
iCal4 did not work. It's possible to fix this by adding this to your
configuration file:

$c->override_dav_header = '1, 2, 3, access-control, calendar-access, calendar-schedule, extended-mkcol, calendar-proxy, bind';

(make sure that's on one line :-)

Cheers,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

How often did you have to post this workaaround at the mailing list?
It seems it'd be time to release a 0.9.9.1 with a fix for that and other
(small) fixes as well...
(e.g. fix for timezone offset problem, fix for missing foreign key / delete
constraints, ...)

We have found this line

$c->override_dav_header = '1, 2, access-control, calendar-access,
calendar-schedule, extended-mkcol, calendar-proxy, calendar-auto-schedule';

when we have tested few weeks ago / before we ask the list.

This were posted in the thread "Stable, lightweight and great
CalDAV-Linux Client" about Lightening. This line were posted Jun 28 first.
One more this line in "Invitations not working" also about Lightening,
at Jun 30.

But this line does not solve our iCal 4 problems.
Also your line does not help :(

Any further ideas?

Make sure that code is on one line, with no line breaks inside the
string.

Cheers,
Andrew.

davical 0.9.9 and iCal4 invitations [ In reply to ]
Hello again :)

today we know some more details!

First we have found a little bug in our mail communication caused by
IPv6 and SPF. Additional I have changed my sourceforge list option
"Avoid duplicate copies of messages?" to "no" :)
So, sorry Andrew that I do not read your mails before. Today I found
them on the sourceforge, thank you for your answers.

This override_dav_header line is in our config in one line, sure.
Only this thunderbird breaks the line after 72 characters.

back to the real problem.
Yesterday we found out iCal4 needs for invitations unlike iCal3
"Schedule Deliver/Send" rights on both (sender, recipient) accounts -
AND your overwrite line :) This combination of rights was missing in
your setup.
So far: solved! Thanks :)

Next problem:
When person A invites person B for an event, and person A will delete
this event - uncaring person B replied the invitation (positiv,
negation, possibly or real no answer until) -
so iCal 4 will delete this event && inform the invited / requested
person(s). At this step it comes to an en error:

The request "$realname at account user at webcal" failed
HTTP/1.0 500 Internal Server Error
at process CalDAVScheduleEventQueebleOperation

and iCal4 lost the connection to davical server. Only closing and reopen
iCal4 or delete the davical-users .in/.out directorys with the hanging
items solves this behaviour.

Kind regards

can somebody confirm / reproduce this behavior or have we an other bug
in our settings?

This sounds like a bug in DAViCal, but I think I need a very clear step
by step sequence of the events that A does and that B does, in order to
be able to duplicate the issue here so that I can try to resolve it.

Cheers,
Andrew.
