Hello list:
I am working my way up the caldav food chain, and ran into another
inconsistency. After successfully importing my 4000 events-calendar (see
previous post), I am working on invitations.
I created a test event in user X's calendar (for which I have all
privileges) that lasts from 11:00 to 14:00. When I try to create another
event at the same time in another calendar Y and want to invite user X
however, the free/busy schedule of Lightning shows that the other user
is busy from 13:00 to 16:00, exactly two hours later than the original
event.
This is true for all events in X's calendar *and* in calendar Y: all
events are visualised at the correct time in Lightning (and iCal, for
that matter), but in the free/busy schedule, all events appear 2 hours
later.
Both caldav calendars and Lightning have "Europe/Madrid" set as their
time zone. The 2 hour offset smells a lot like GMT+2 (i.e. CEST).
Changing the time zone in Lightning to GMT (e.g. Iceland) did not solve
the problem. After the necessary restart, all events are simply moved up
2 hours and the offset is still there. If you don't restart, it might
*look* as if it worked, because the events are still visualised with the
old time zone, but the free/busy schedule is already reflecting the new
time zone so the offset is gone. Unfortunately, that behaviour (need to
restart to update calendar events' time zone) seems to be a Lightning issue.
Back on topic: The offset problem also exists in iCal. The free/busy
timeslots are 2 hours later than the displayed event times. Again,
changing the OS setting for time zone to Iceland does not work, with the
difference that iCal does not need a restart and simply updates "live".
Is this a Lightning & iCal bug (both behave the same), a Davical bug, or
a PEBKAC?
Thanks, Achim
