CalDAV Push-Notification
Good afternoon:

I just came across an interesting extension to the CalDAV protocol (CalDAV
Push-Notification [1]) and was wondering if this is anything DAViCal is
looking to implement. An alternative would perhaps be to implement a module
for z-push [2].

Use case: Offer free software alternatives via IMAP, DAViCal and LDAP to
the Exchange/ActiveSync features (mail, calendar and contacts). At the
moment, I use the regular CalDAV protocol via Lightning, iCal and iOS
3.1.2, but push would be nice for calendars.

Thanks in advance, Achim

Hi Achim,

Rob Ostenson contributed Push notification support to DAViCal for
version 0.9.8.something :-)

There's very little client-side support, and it's possibly a bit
persnickety about the jabber server configuration.

Cheers,
Andrew.

You would if you could but you can't so you won't.

I believe you are talking about this [1]: did not find this before. As you
say, only iCal 4.0 support for now.

Has anybody on the list experience with Z-Push [2]? Perhaps it would make
sense to implement a backup plugin for Z-Push-DAViCal push support?

Best regards, Achim

Yes, indeed. It looks interesting. I would think that implementing a
Z-Push plugin which did CalDAV/CardDAV would be a very popular beast,
and I'd be happy to help anyone who was implementing it to work their
way through the CaLDAV/CardDAV protocols.

Cheers,
Andrew.
