Hi All,
Happy new year and such...
About a month ago I migrated a 15 computer network from ms exchange.
Everything went really smoothly and according to schedule, except for
contacts. countless hours, thoughts, research and experiments have gone
into trying to figure out how to resolve this, the story of which would,
I am sure, thrill you all. However, I shall refrain from wasting your
day with it...
The basics are that when I copy multiple addresses into a thunderbird
address book configured with sogo, some 20% of the contacts are not
uploaded. This seems to throw everything off, and at the next sync
those same contacts are re-uploaded until the collection contains 15-20
thousand contacts then everything stops working. The only thing that
seems able to stop the cycle is to delete the collection, delete the
sogo address book, recreate the collection, import the address book, and
reconnect sogo.
I suspect that the issue stems from character encoding. An example of
why I think that: a contact that displayed ' in name in the outlook
address book was exported as a japanese character in the csv. when I
removed the japanese characters that contact was able to import where it
wasn't before. However, using iconv I can show the whole exported csv
file is utf-8, and some contacts with no special characters at all don't
import. So I was indecisive as to whether it could be character
encoding, but now I am not sure....
I did solve this in a round-about way, but it only works so long as
users only add one contact at a time in the sogo address book, but that
is proving to be inadequate as a solution. Does anyone have any
experience with this problem?
And on importing, I spent many hours trying to get the "load from file"
in the web interface working and never could. I think I searched all
google had to say on it, but I found no solution. Does anyone have a trick?
