If you are able to create/edit events and you have not changed the
default setting for WebDAV you are using CalDAV.

I was able to add and edit events also using the 0.8 version. What
default setting are you writing about? In DAViCal or in mozilla?

In DAViCAL and providing your calendar is configured as a CalDAV in
Sunbird.
