Fxo and FXS
dear list,

could u pls comment when i have to use FXS and FXO ?
I always have confusion when implementing and get stuck..and confused..
I would like to have better understbnding on this..Pls kindly help on this.

If i understand whenever we integrate gateway with PBX we always should go
for FXO ??
is it Correct...??
whenever there is just a Phone Plug in we use FXS ...right??

I wuld be glad if list could explain on this..

Greeting Karthi,

FXS ports in Cisco device PROVIDE ring voltage and dialtone. ( you can plug
an analog phone into an FXS and go offhook to hear dialtone).

FXO ports in Cisco device RECEIVE ring voltage and dialtone. (if you plug an
anlog phone into an FXO port and go offhook, you will hear nothing).
