adding ring tones in CM 3.3.4
I know I have read it somewhere, but can't find it or have time to find
it. How do I add (custom) ring tones to the phones?

TIA

Scott

I've noticed that some SCCP phone loads can have more ringtones then
others.
I've got 50 custom rings loaded on my 7960's right now.

Be aware that large ringtones, if they happen to fill up the flash on the ip
phone, can cause resets. This is normal, any time the file system gets full
on the phone it will reset itself to clear out the flash.

Re: adding ring tones in CM 3.3.4 [ In reply to ]
The custom ring tones are contained in the RingList.xml file (or something like that). I believe it's downloaded at the time you go the the ringlist menu, but it's downloaded from the TFTP the phone is registered to. You would require a seperate TFTP server for each group. You also have to restart the TFTP server any time you make a change to the list. :(

There is also a file called distinctiveringlist.xml which contains the ring types you can select when you select something other than the default ring. I'm going to investigate make the two the same, but there might be memory limitations that I have to look into. I've been told as long as you don't have more than 50 (25 and 25) it should be ok, but I've gone larger. ;)

And you can customize music on hold as well. You do this under Service -> Media Resource -> Music on Hold Audio Source

There is a live moh source created by default which should correspond to the
sound card of the server. I know we sell a specific (ibm I think) server
with a builtin audio card as a live audio moh server. We also support the
old-school soundblaster 16 PCI and a few usb sound cards. You'll want to
check documentation on this though to be sure.

Also be aware that there are licensing issues you need to consider before
pumping anything like radio or CDs out as moh. I'm not knowledgable enough
to say what they are but I know they are there.

RE: adding ring tones in CM 3.3.4 [ In reply to ]
Has anyone been successful at converting an .mp3 file to the .raw format
that the ringtones require? I am able to get all the Samples Rate, Bit
Rate, Compression, and everything else correct, but cannot seem to get the
Number Of Samples to be divisible by 240. I am using Sound Forge to do the
conversion, and I can get the Number Of Samples to 242, but nothing
divisible by 240. What software is everyone else using to conver these
files?

Nevermind, it looks like the .raw file has to be a certain size? The
original was 52kb, but I had to cut it down to 16kb. Does anyone know the
maximum file size? It's not specified on Cisco's website. Thanks!

Since the maximum ring size is 16080 samples and the sample size is 8
bit, the maximum file size should be 16080 bytes
