[nsp] SR a dump question
I have a customer uses 3COM Netbuilder.
I know what you are going to say.. please hold it.. :-)
using PPP to talk to cisco router, everything router reboot,
it came line and protocol but I can not ping across until shut/no shut
the inteface or or have teleco split the line.

Any idea why?

can you further explain "everything router reboot"? also i dont understand
what you mean by "split the line". i would assume you are using isdn but i
dont like to assume things. it sounds like a change you made to the
interface config didnt take place for some reason until you shut it/no shut
it...but no one can be sure without logs / debugs.

Re: [nsp] SR a dump question [ In reply to ]
Josh,

first of all...I thnx for writing to me.
I meant to say every time router reboot.
split the line means the teleco get into the circuit and "KILL" the line
so that they can look at the both direction on the event of trouble.
needless to say, we found no trouble in either direction.
It apeared that if we reet the line after 3COM reboot, it works fine.

I am not using ISDN, it is strictly T1 using PPP as encap.
Unfortunately 3COM router does not speak cisco HDLC.
Further there is NO document is available from 3COM site because it is
disco item. In fact, I found no documentation this anyhwere in the
internet.
I must say that it was working when this customer was connected to other
cisco router.

When I looked at log on both, I see nothing unsual.
3COM side says that it is active...
cisco side, I see the line and protocol are active ready to communiate.
In fact, I "assume" since keepalive was set on the both, they are seeing
the packets... But yet IP traffic does not pass unless reset the line.
it appeared something may be hanging on the process of PPP negociation..??

Re: [nsp] SR a dump question [ In reply to ]
sounds like IPCP doesnt negotiate properly or something. it would be nice
to get a "debug ppp negotiation" from when the link first comes up but since
that will be happening probably before you get a chance to type it in we
might not be able to get that. can you get a "sh int serialX" right after a
reload to see what state ipcp is in? sounds like a cheesy bug but i cant
say for sure at this point.

Re: [nsp] SR a dump question [ In reply to ]
Josh,

I am feeling the same way... but I need acl on this before debug, right?
otherwise I get too many junks.
But it so, why reset the line will bring it back?

Any idea.. What different resetting the line via restarting from begining?

oh btw, one was "rsp-pv-mz.120-15.S1.bin" I think.
